Day 2/4: Kafue National Park, Zambia
Departing from Lusaka in the early moring we head for the northern part of the Kafue National Park where we camp for 3 nights. This reserve, established in 1924, covers a huge area of wetland and miombo woodland and is a wilderness sanctuary for lion, elephant, leopard, puku, lechwe and many other antelope as well as over 400 species of birds.
The Kafue River, which forms part of the eastern boundary of the reserve, is home to hippo and great numbers of crocodiles. The Kafue is a seldom visited area; untamed stretches of wilderness reminiscent of ancient primal Africa.
Day 5: Lochinvar National Park, Zambia
The Lochinvar National Park south of Lusaka is situated on the Chunga Lagoon with its abundant birdlife.
The wetlands and surrounding floodplains support herds of buffalo, lechwe and zebra and we?ll take full Day to explore the area. Our visits bring much-needed funds, which help support, the anti-poaching teams in this area.
Day 6/7: Victoria Falls, Zambia
We camp for 2 nights in Livingstone, Zambia, named after Dr David Livingstone, and visit the Mosi oa Tunya or 'the smoke that thunders' - Victoria Falls. These magnificent falls are one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Extra activities at own expense.
Day 8/9: Lake Kariba, Zambia
We make our way to the shores of Lake Kariba. About 160km downstream of Victoria Falls, Africa's fourth longest river flows into a vast artificial lake created by one of the world's largest dams. Explore the area and relax on a boat cruise as the sun sets.
Day 10/13: Lower Zambezi, Zambia
We drive down into the Lower Zambezi Valley and spend three nights camping on the banks of the Zambezi River. Enjoy 3 Days canoeing down the Zambezi River, home of the tribal mythical god - Nyami Nyami. The river attracts elephants and other wildlife from the surrounding wilderness. After a Day highlighted by bird watching and game viewing, relax on your final evening around a campfire recalling the wonderful memories of a great journey.
