Busanga Bush Camp

Location
Situated in the 22 500 sq km Kafue National Park (one of the largest National Parks in Africa), Busanga Bush Camp lies in the extreme north of the Kafue, in Busanga Busanga CampPlains, one of Zambia’s most significant wetland resources and one of the few areas in the world that remain untouched by development and human activity.

Lechwe Plains

Location
Lechwe Plains Tented Camp is on the edge of the wide Chunga Lagoon in the Lochinvar National Park. The park is located on the Kafue River floodplain, mid way between Livingstone and Lusaka, and is a bird watcher’s paradise.

Lechwe Plains - Dining
A wide range of cuisine is served blending local ingredients with international flavours. Meals are served outdoors whenever possible and often around a log fire in the evenings, so you can enjoy the memorable experience of dining under African skies.

Lilayi Lodge

Lilayi meaning "Place of Rest" is situated in a game ranch in Zambia traditionally famed for it's wildlife.

Location
Lilayi Lodge, only 20 minutes drive from Lusaka, provides the ideal setting for a relaxed stay. Set in a 700 hectare game ranch the lodge offers luxurious accommodation close to Zambia's capital city.

Facilities
The Lodge is designed in traditional style with thatched chalets, one of which accommodates the lounge, bar, dining area and modern kitchen. A recent addition is a new conference and function room built in the same style. Set in very attractive parkland with a sparkling pool, the complex is designed for comfort and relaxation with particular attention to excellent cuisine and service. Of the twelve chalets, six deluxe rooms are en-suite open plan with double bedroom, lounge, fax phone and fully equipped bathroom.
Lilayi Lodge
The other six standard chalets have two double bedrooms, each with shower bathrooms and a common lounge with a telephone – ideal for families. All chalets have fitted carpets, tiled bathrooms, posture-paedic mattresses and are furnished to a high standard. Each chalet is mosquito proofed with gauze on all windows and nets on every bed. The area is renowned for its underground aquifers yielding crystal clear spring-like water.

The lodge is served by sealed boreholes, which supply safe drinking water which is tested regularly. All bathroom water is connected through a softener for added comfort. Local materials have been used throughout – burnt handmade bricks, thatched roofing and Mukwa joinery and flooring. The main building is also thatched with dormer windows giving a spectacular effect both internally and externally.

Chiawa Camp

Location
Chiawa Camp is located right on the banks of the Zambezi River, in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. With the mountains of the Zambian Escarpment as backdrop, dotted with ancient baobab trees and shaded by forest of mahogany and acacia, it is an idyllic setting for a safari camp.

Chongwe River Safari Lodge, Safari Lodge, Lower Zambezi

Location
Chongwe River Camp is a 'bush camp' situated in a pristine 4000 sq km sanctuary teeming with game, and where elephant are more numerous than people. There are no fences in this wilderness area and the animals have complete right of way.

Accommodation
The chalets are large, well appointed Mulati tents under thatch, with open air bathrooms en suite. Situated under a canopy of albida thorns and surrounded by cool lawns, they command fabulous views over the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers. Each tent sleeps 2 people and twin or double beds can be arranged. The bathrooms are an experience in their own right. Shower under the stars or the early morning sunshine. Kulefu Tented Camp

Information

The informal bar, lounge and dining area at Kulefu Tented Camp are housed in a magnificent central marquee, giving an open-air feel and harmonising with the surrounding environment. Rhodesian teak and natural fabrics add comfort and authenticity. The camp lights and hot water systems are solar powered and traditional paraffin lanterns illuminate pathways and tent entrances. Due to the remoteness of this camp and the proximity to wild and dangerous animals, only children aged 12 years and above are accepted.

Kulefu Tented Camp

To get closer to nature there are a number of activities on offer, including professionally guided game viewing from open 4x4 vehicles, boat and canoe excursions, birdwatching, stargazing and if you are keen on fishing there are some excellent angling opportunities.

Accommodation
Kulefu's accommodation comprises 8 spacious tented rooms on raised teak decking with twin beds, mosquito nets, en suite facilities (basin, toilet, shower), solar heated water and a private veranda. All units are serviced.

Kulefu Tented Camp - Dining
Meal at Kulefu are at the usually accepted times but can be dependent on game drives and vary seasonally. All meals are table d’hôte with a wide selection of dishes. Meals are served outdoors whenever possible and often around a campfire in the evening.

  • Wildlife - the Lower Zambezi National Park is an extremely remote area with abundant and varied wildlife including elephant, lion, buffalo, waterbuck, leopard, hyaena, zebra, various gazelle and many bird species.
  • Activities - the camp offers professionally guided game viewing from open 4x4 vehicles, boat and canoe excursions, birdwatching and stargazing, walking safaris and excellent fishing opportunities.
  • Wilderness - after sunset, when the paraffin lamps glow softly among the trees, the chink of glass and china as dinner is served is often accompanied by the nocturnal voices of leopard or a rare fishing owl.

Old Mondoro

Information
Accommodating only 8 guests and of traditional design, Old Mondoro is somewhat reminiscent of the mobile camps of East Africa, rebuilt from scratch and then dismantled each safari season. The concept of Old Mondoro is simply to take a step back from the ultra-luxurious lodges that have sprung up in recent times and rather to provide you with an authentic remote safari that concentrates on the wildlife and bush experience. You will experience a very different "back to the bush" atmosphere at Old Mondoro.

Appropriately constructed of canvas and natural materials, the camp has an open and more adventurous feel, yet provides a comfortable retreat after a day filled with excitement in the bush, where emphasis is placed on non-motorised safari activities.Old Mondoro Bush Camp

Old Mondoro is set in a grove of Acacia trees on the banks of the Zambezi River. It is a beautiful site overlooking a maze of hippo-inhabited islands and channels. Here the park is characterised by vast flood plains and open woodland ideal for walking and game viewing opportunities. This is very different from the rest of the park, which is on higher ground with thicker bush and large inland lagoons.

Old Mondoro - Rooms
With outstanding views of the Zambezi, the tents at Old Mondoro rest on temporary slabs, and have en-suite facilities with flush toilets, canvas bucket showers and washbasins. The tents have open views during the day, and at night canvas drop-down blinds with windows are lowered to provide more privacy and security. All the tents are rustically furnished and have comfortable bedding and large mosquito nets. In keeping with the old world atmosphere, paraffin lanterns are used to provide ambient lighting.

Old Mondoro - Dining
The Main Tent, which serves as Old Mondoro's lounge and dining area, is set under a winter thorn tree and next to a sausage tree overlooking the Zambezi. A traditional bush kitchen supplies outstanding meals and fresh bread baked daily from a homemade oven.

  • Walking safaris - there are some excellent walking areas right out of camp, and more just a short drive away; arguably the best walking area in the Lower Zambezi.
  • Game Viewing - elephant, lion & buffalo are found West of Jeki airstrip; the area to the East of Old Mondoro delivers frequent leopard and serval sightings, as well as plains' game such as zebra and kudu.
  • Friendly & Personal - the camp is unpretentious & uncomplicated, but promises a unique safari that gives guests the best bush experience possible.

Sausage Tree Camp

Information
Sausage Tree Camp is sheltered by mature mahogany, acacia and sausage trees along the Zambezi River, overlooking the scenic channels with water lilies and hippo.

There is a large range of game-viewing activities to choose from including game-drives (both day and night), walking safaris, canoeing, boating and fishing. During your stay in the park, you will have a very good chance of seeing elephant, hippo, buffalo, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu, as well as many smaller animals.Sausage Tree Camp There are also solid numbers of leopard, lion and hyena.With no fences, elephant and other game frequently walk through camp, making it possible to enjoy game experiences from the comfort of your tent. The communal areas include a reading tent with a deck overlooking the river, as well as a main kitchen tent and dining area.

Sausage Tree Camp - Rooms
Accommodation at Sausage Tree Camp is in 6 luxurious Bedouin style tents, discreetly positioned along the riverbank. Local materials were used with reddish brown teak furniture, including 4-poster beds with crisp white linen and flowing white mosquito nets.

The tents are virtually hidden from one another. Shaded by mature Sausage and Mahogany trees, they are cool, private sanctuaries to return to after an early morning game drive and for a good night's rest.

Each tent has a private open-air en-suite bathroom, which has become a distinct trademark for this world-renowned tented safari camp. From the loo with a view, to the steaming hot shower, or the honeymoon tent which offers a bathtub worth marrying for!

Sausage Tree Camp - Dining

The executive chef, Mr. Honore Kabongo, was trained in France and later moved to Zambia. He has been working at Sausage Tree Camp for the past 5 years.

Breakfast is buffet style and is available at any time to suit your personal needs and to fit with your morning activities. A cooked breakfast can be ordered the night before.

3-course dinners are served under the stars, around the campfire, or in the open-style dining and bar tent on the banks of the Zambezi. If you would prefer a private and romantic dinner for 2, you can arrange your very own table and camp fire in front of your tent.

Activities - with personalized guiding, you can decide exactly what activity you would like to do and when

Kapani Safari Lodge

The main area houses the lounge and bar as well Kapani Safari Lodgeas a small library of natural history books. There is also a refreshing swimming pool

Kapani Safari Lodge - Rooms
Accommodation consists of eight standard suites and two new Lagoon Houses. The brick chalets have thatched roofs, spacious living areas, luxurious interiors and walk-in mosquito nets. The Lagoon Houses offer more spacious rooms, private views and elegant furniture. The rooms overlook the oxbow lagoon.

Kapani Safari Lodge - Dining
There is a main chitenge with a bar and lounge area. Brunch is served each day on a wooden deck.

Kawaza Village

Information
The Luangwa Valley is well known for its unique wildlife and is also the home of the Kundas, a small tribe of about 35,000 people. To date, village trips have been short excursions undertaken between game drives. Kawaza Village gives you the unique opportunity to meet with and learn from the local people. Kawaza Village

You stay in traditional huts in Kawaza Village, with a reed bed and mosquito net. There is a long drop toilet.

Kawaza Village - Dining
Meals at Kawaza Village consist of traditional African food and you are invited to join in and help with daily tasks involved in food preparation.

  • Experience Daily Life - probably the best way of interacting with local people is by taking part in daily activities like drawing water or brewing the local beer
  • Traditional Entertainment - in the evenings everyone gathers around the fire as the villagers entertain with dances, drumming and drama and the finest storytellers recount the old, dramatic Kunda stories

Kutandala Camp

Information
Kutandala is Zambia's smallest owner-operated camp, catering for only six guests on each safari. Exclusivity is guaranteed and you can drive or walk for days and not meet another soul. Rod and Guz, who own and operate Kutandala Camp, care passionately about what they do and about the restoration work which has brought the North Luangwa back from the brink.

Not many experiences can match the thrill of finding lion on foot or standing face to face with a thousand head of buffalo. Whether you want to track large mammals from Elephant to the endemic Cookson's Wildebeest, or identify some of the three hundred and fifty bird species recorded - on safari at Kutandala you will be in the company of people who know and love this area

Accommodation
The guest rooms are spread out along the river bank, giving ample space and privacy, and each has an en-suite bathroom with a flush loo and hot shower. All the rooms have an unrestricted view of the Mwaleshi River and its flood plain throughout the day.

Kutandala Camp - Dining
Guz manages, against incredible logistical odds, to produce meals of the highest quality and variety. Guz is a first class trained cook and produces mouth watering dishes so be prepared to extend your belt a notch or two during your visit. The dining area, bar and library are under the shade of a huge Natal Mahogany, deliberately and delightfully low key. There are iced drinks, but thankfully no generator, and therefore no noise - lighting is provided by rechargeable solar lanterns and hurricane lamps.

Kuyenda Bushcamp

Location
Kuyenda is a wonderful adventure alternative located in a remote area of the South Luangwa National Park.

Accommodation
The accommodation consists of three thatched rondavels made entirely of local materials - reed, thatch and wood. These rondavels are taken down and rebuilt every year. The chalets are rustic but very comfortable and offer Kuyenda Bushcampa really authentic bush experience. Large beds, with mosquito netting and colourful covers, an abundance of storage space and all facilities en-suite (shower, toilet and washbasin). The bathroom is open to the stars and you need to order the hot water for your shower in advance.

Kuyenda Bushcamp - Dining
The main dining area, sitting room and bar are in a small open fronted thatched structure in the centre of the small camp and this is the nucleus of all activities.

  • Expert guiding - Phil Berry at Kuyenda is the most experienced guide in the area, with years of experience and many articles to his name.
  • Wildlife - there is a permanent spring in front of the camp, with game coming down all the time to drink.
  • Walking - this is a wonderful walking area and activities are tailored to guests' needs.

Luwi Bush Camp

Location
Luwi is situated deep in the Luangwa wilderness, lending the camp a rustic appeal and providing a truly African bush experience. The camp is close to a large lagoon which attracts lots of game to the area.

There are four reed and thatch huts with polished mud floors. each individually designed to provide you with all the comforts you need. Luwi has en suite facilities with flush toilet and hot and cold showers.

Luwi Bush Camp - Dining
The bar and dining area are in the shade of mahogany trees. All meals are served in the shade of the trees, with a view of the grassy plain that normally attracts lots of wildlife.

Mfuwe Lodge

Mfuwe Lodge - Information
The open plan central lodge facility incorporates reception, lounge, dining and bar areas, under a thatch roof supported by palm poles and dominated by two impressive chimneys at opposite ends. This cool and airy central meeting place is the heart of the lodge. It opens onto a broad timber deck that cantilevers dramatically over the main lagoon.
Mfuwe Lodge
From the comfort of the lodge guests may view some of Africa's wildlife as animals come down to drink. Elephant, hippopotamus, many antelope species and crocodiles are plentiful in this area.The deck area accommodates the swimming pool, also overlooking the main lagoon. Activities include day and night game drives, walking safaris for closer contact with the animals and bird watching.

For quieter moments the nature conservation library with its own deck shaded with giant ebony trees, offers a unique collection of antiquarian books and modern reference material. A meeting room for up to 40 people, overlooking a lagoon, is also available.

Accommodation
Each of the 18 units offer luxurious, open plan accommodation with en suite bathroom, mini-bar and large private game viewing deck overlooking the lagoons. A special feature is the bathing corner, which can be opened completely to offer guests an open air bathing experience. Five of the chalets are suites with elevated sleeping area, with double beds and increased lounging area, each with private bar. Each chalet is decorated with attention to detail and is equipped with everything from refrigerator to shampoo and mosquito repellent.

Mfuwe Lodge - Dining
The lodge has a boma (reeded enclosure) incorporating bar, lounge and dining area under African skies. Dinner is sometimes served by lamplight on the poolside deck overlooking the lagoon.

  • Wildlife - elephants visit the lodge regularly, sometimes coming right into the reception area!
  • Wilderness - Mfuwe gives the visitor a special glimpse of Africa as she was - untouched, unspoiled and unforgettable.

Nkwali Camp

Location
Nkwali Camp is located in the South Luangwa National Park in an area well-known for leopard and giraffe sightings. This intimate camp overlooks the Luangwa River and can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. Access to the park is by boat or their nearby pontoon.

The 6 chalets at Nkwali all have a view of the river. The rooms are made of woven bamboo and are airy and very spacious. All the attached bathrooms are partially open to the sky, so you can enjoy a shower in the moonlight.

The thatched dining room at Nkwali overlooks a lagoon where many of the resident animals drink during the day.

The magnificent bar, on the banks of the river, has been built around a massive ebony tree. At the end of the day your sunset drink may be accompanied by the sight of a large herd of elephant which regularly cross the Luangwa.

The original rondavels have been extended, and spacious bathrooms have been added. Each room has a clear view of the river through large windows and from the wooden verandas.

The dining area is a large thatched shelter at the downstream end of camp - it has a fantastic view onto the Luangwa River.

Accommodation consists of four spacious rooms, built on raised wooden platforms under a thatched roof. The rooms are built from grass and have their own en suite shower, washbasin, flush toilet and verandah. Where possible, the natural features have been incorporated into the structure. Rooms are open-fronted allowing extensive views. At night, the canvas curtains can be drawn for added security.

Nsolo Bush Camp - Dining

In a thatched shelter with a bar and dinning area, superb cuisine is served. There is also a hide nearby, overlooking a waterhole where the game viewing is most rewarding.

Puku Ridge Tented Camp is small and intimate, built among the trees in a game rich area of the South Luangwa National Park. From its vantage point on the low, rocky ridge you can look out across a section of the fertile, water-rich Kakumbi dambo (valley). You have the option of 2 game viewing activities per day including game drives and night drives in open 4x4 vehicles driven by a knowledgeable guide, as well as guided walks by a professional guide and an armed national parks scout. Game to be seen in the area includes elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, buffalo and giraffe.

Well-lit pathways cleared of undergrowth connect the tents to the main bar / lounge. The vegetation has otherwise been left undisturbed, so you truly have the feeling of being in the African bush.

Accommodation at Puku Ridge is in 6 spacious walk-in canvas safari tents with a choice of twin, double or king size beds. Each en-suite tent has indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a sunken bath. Tena Tena means "temporary home" and that is what it will feel like when you stay here. The camp lies on a bend of the Luangwa River under a grove of mahogany trees. Birdwatchers will be excited to learn that about 400 species of birds are found in the park.
