Club Makokola is situated north of Mangochi on the southern shore of Lake Malawi, a luxury lakeside resort in the heart of Africa. It is 4 hours drive from Lilongwe or a 35 minute flight. Malawi is a landlocked country of great natural beauty in East Central Africa at approximately 15 degrees south and 35 degrees east. It is bordered by Tanzania to the north and north east, Zambia to the west and Mozambique to the south east, south and south west. It is a small, long, narrow country lying north to south. It is approximately 850kms long and 160kms wide. It is at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley and contains Lake Malawi which is the southernmost lake in the series of lakes marking the Valley's route south from the Red Sea.

Kaya Mawa Lodge
Lodge Location
On Likoma Island in the north east of Lake Malawi very close to the Mozambique shores of the lake. The lodge is on the southern tip of the island and is located on the edge of a long sweeping sandy beach bordered by two rocky promontories.
Lodge Facilities
Three rooms on the lower western side of the promontory. On the long sweeping beach below and to the west of the main promontory there are another two chalets. At the far end of the beach a good 10 minute walk from the main building and set high on the rocks overlooking the bay are another two chalets. There are two rooms on their own rocky outcrops to the east of the main building. The honeymoon island is a good 50 metres out into the lake depending on prevailing water levels and is accessed by boat or by swimming.

Mvuu Wilderness Lodge
Lodge Location
The 580 000 square kilometres Liwonde National Park is situated in the south of Malawi and is Malawi's premier wildlife reserve. Liwonde incorporates the huge and scenic Shire River as well as quiet backwaters and lagoons, marshes, open savanna country, woodland and hills. As a result of the wide variety of habitats, there is a great diversity of plant, animal and birdlife present. The birdlife is outstanding - it is possibly the best birding location in central and southern Africa. The record for a 2 night stay is 266 different species.
Lodge Facilities:
- Discreetly tucked away into thick riverine vegetation, each tent has its own private view of the palm fringed lagoon which abounds with exciting birdlife.
- The main dining room/pub/lounge area is raised under thatch, overlooking the Shire River, where snoozing hippos and basking crocodiles are often to be viewed.
- Tented rooms offer luxury en-suite facilities for only 10 persons, including a unique stone and thatch honeymoon suite.
- Enjoy meals on the deck or under thatch and relax at the pool which is made of natural rock and is surrounded by a deck of frangrant Mulanje cedar.
